課堂經歷
This is the 2nd in a series of classes about men who had amazing mathematical minds. This class will briefly talk about WWII and the German's ability to create codes for intelligence and communications. We will discuss the massive mathematical problems, faced by the Allies, in trying to decode the messages. We'll talk about Turing's genius mathematical skills, his frustration with his own government and his concept of the first computer that would break the German codes.

I do not specifically talk about anti-Semitism or the details of homosexuality in this class. I do mention Alan Turing's sexual orientation, as it lead to him being restricted from his job and his incarceration in his home. Homosexuality was a crime. I use his treatment by society, to stress the loss of a very gifted man, to look at how the computer age might have progressed faster, and to make the students aware of the possible effects to mankind of singling people out for any reason.

After working in Engineering, the practical word of math and science, I wish to help students become familiar, not only some of the brilliant people who moved the world forward, but see that where we are today is the result of the lives and sacrifices of each of them.
