The Aurora Borealis is an amazing natural phenomenon that occurs near the North and South Poles. The best place to see them is near the arctic circle from September - April! We’ll begin class with introductions, students may share their age and favorite hobby. We'll then gather what information we already know about auroras, and watch an interactive slideshow explaining what causes an Auroras brilliant color display. Students will get to see a finished example of the art project before they begin and select their favorite 3 colors to use in their own custom Auroras. If time allows, students may create another peice using different swirl patterns and/or colors. At the end of class, students may share their unique creations with the rest of the class.
學習目標
Students will learn what an Aurora Borealis is, where they occur and what produces the brilliant colors that they are known for.
"Perspective" is discussed, students will also learn a blending and smudging technique using chalk pastels.
