In this 45-minute class, students will focus on mastering a key literacy skill for reading comprehension while simultaneously applying it to their writing. By integrating reading and writing, students reinforce comprehension skills through real-time practice as authors. They’ll explore the diverse purposes of writing and understand its varying criteria. Ideal for reviewing essential skills or learning new reading strategies. This class is perfect for students who are supplementing, or need extra support for comprehension and writing. This course covers: main idea and supporting details, summarizing, opinion, drawing conclusions, and cause & effect. Let's read and write together, all in one class! Lesson Outline *read a short passage together and discuss aloud *use the organizer that addresses a common reading comprehension skill to guide our discussions *use another organizer with this same skill and brainstorm ideas to practice the reading skill but as an AUTHOR. *students complete the organizer with teacher guidance and discussion (10 mins) *share out any final thoughts *After class, students are encouraged to complete their writing when class has ended on draft paper. *After class, students are also encouraged to read 20-30 minutes and practice the skill of the day from our lesson.

Reading: We will read and comprehend the fiction text by summarizing the key story elements of the story.
Writing: We will develop our own writing plan by applying this same skill by brainstorming a short story plan. The story plan will contain the key story elements. 45 分鐘線上直播課

Opinion and Supporting Facts
Reading: We will reading and comprehend the article by identifying the author's opinion. We will also locate the supporting facts and details for their opinion.
Writing: We will develop our own writing plan by applying this same skill; opinion and supporting facts. We will brainstorm an opinion we have and then include facts and details that prove our opinion. 45 分鐘線上直播課

Drawing Conclusions and Descriptive Details
Reading: We will read and comprehend a fiction text by drawing conclusions or "figuring out" what is happening within the story.
