多合一數學營第 2 部分：5 年級和 6 年級

This is part 2 of the All In One Math Camp, however, you don't need to have completed part one because this class will focus on completely different skills.  Remembering the multitude of steps when solving math problems is a whole lot easier when you have a teacher who can give you the tips and tricks to help you become independent and confident!!  This is a low-stress math camp. Students will review skills and complete "toolboxes" to use as guides for those times when they may forget a skill in the future.  As with all of my multi-day math courses, the following outline may change if I determine that the students need more practice with a particular skill.  

Week 1 Number Theory:
     class 1:  Finding multiples, factors, and the prime factorization of numbers
     class 2:  Rounding to the nearest ten, hundred, thousand in whole numbers
                   Rounding to the nearest dollar for money amounts
Week 2 Statistics
     class 1:  analyzing data from charts and tables
     class 2:  finding mean, median, mode, range from data
Week 3:  Integers
     class 1: understanding, comparing, ordering integers, finding the absolute value of a number
     class 2:  adding and subtracting integers (if time, we will touch on multiplication and division)
Week 4:  Algebra
     class 1:  understanding vocabulary, translating verbal to numerical algebraic expressions
     class 2:  solving 1 variable equations with whole numbers and checking work(if time, we will delve into combining like variables)
Week 5: Geometry
     class 1:  finding area and perimeter of quadrilaterals and triangles
     class 2:  solving for the missing angle of a triangle or quadrilateral.

I expect students to come prepared to class with worksheets and writing tools. I also expect students to be polite to the teacher and other students.  Remember, this is a low-stress class and there is no need to get upset-we will do this together!! Students need to enter class on mute and with the camera on AND keep the camera on throughout the class so I can gauge expressions for frustration and check work in progress.
