In this book club, students will explore a range of contemporary YA novels, focusing on engaging discussions about themes, characters, and personal connections to the story. The class is structured around weekly sessions where we dive deep into specific chapters or sections of the book, with plenty of time for open conversation and reflection. The teaching style is conversational, aimed at fostering a safe, welcoming space for learners to share their thoughts without fear of judgment. Each session will be interactive, with casual, guided discussions on the book's major themes, characters, and any questions or reflections students bring to the table. Students will be encouraged to connect the story to their own lives and discuss how the book resonates with their experiences. There will be no quizzes or tests—just rich, meaningful conversations about the books we read. The goal is to make the experience feel personal, relatable, and fun, while still allowing for critical thinking. Interaction will be centered around the learners, as they share insights and ask questions in a relaxed, non-structured format. I will also use prompts as needed to guide the conversation, ensuring every voice is heard. Whether it’s unpacking complex themes or simply chatting about favorite moments, learners will feel supported throughout the process.
學習目標
Critical Thinking and Analysis: Learners will develop the ability to analyze complex themes in YA novels, identifying key concepts and exploring how they relate to real-world experiences.
Personal Reflection and Connection: Students will enhance their ability to connect with literature on a personal level, sharing how the book resonates with their own experiences, emotions, and perspectives. This goal encourages empathy and self-awareness.

父母的引導和規範
This book club will explore contemporary YA novels, which may contain mature themes such as loss, trauma, mental health, relationships, and identity struggles. While discussions are intended to be supportive, some books may touch on topics that could be upsetting or triggering for certain learners. For example, themes of grief, suicide, self-harm, and addiction may be present in some of the books we read, though these topics will be handled with sensitivity during our discussions.
For the novels in our reading list, I recommend parents review the content of each book prior to enrollment to ensure it aligns with their comfort level. If a particular book or theme may cause distress, alternatives can be discussed.
I will not be using any external third-party tools requiring accounts or sharing of personal information. The class will consist of open, respectful conversations without any media content outside of the books being discussed.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns about specific books or content before the class begins.

I have extensive experience working with children and young adults, having taught k-12 for several years. In my teaching career, I have facilitated book clubs, led literature discussions, and worked with students to develop their reading and critical thinking skills. I have a deep passion for literature and believe in its power to inspire thoughtful discussion and personal growth. I believe those who do not like to read simply have not found their genre yet!
Over the years, I've worked directly with groups of students, guiding them through books that challenge their thinking, help them relate to complex characters, and spark meaningful conversations. I've also helped students analyze the deeper themes in literature, especially in contemporary works that tackle real-world issues.
Additionally, I have a strong background in using open discussions to encourage communication, promote empathy, and develop social-emotional learning. These skills are especially important when discussing topics that may be sensitive or challenging for teens. I strive to create a safe, inclusive environment where students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and emotions.
In this book club, I bring my years of classroom experience and my dedication to fostering a supportive, respectful space for teens to explore literature's complexities. I am committed to ensuring that all students feel heard, respected, and valued throughout the process.
