In this self-paced class, students will learn the basics of algebra. This course will build upon the pre-algebraic concepts learned in my Foundations of Algebra class (https://outschool.com/classes/foundations-of-algebra-flex-semester-course-HniBLStu#usT6Fyr9ph), but students who have prior knowledge of pre-algebra are welcome to join. Week 1Lesson 1Like Terms and EquationsStudents will learn how to combine like terms. Students will be able to solve simple equations.Week 2Lesson 2Graphing and SlopeStudents will learn how to graph using y=mx + b . Students will calculate slope.Week 3Lesson 3Solving and Graphing InequalitiesStudents will be able to solve and graph inequalities.Week 4Lesson 4Proportions and Equations with GeometryStudents will solve equations and proportions using properties of geometry.Week 5Lesson 5Systems of EquationsStudents will solve systems of equations through various methods.Week 6Lesson 6Review WeekStudents will review various topics at teacher discretion.Week 7Lesson 7Exponents and Scientific NotationStudents will learn the rules of exponents. Students will convert to and from scientific notation.Week 8Lesson 8Operations with Polynomials and Long DivisionStudents will add, subtract, multiply, and divide polynomials. I have taught these concepts in a traditional school setting for many years. I have tutored these algebraic concepts for approximately ten years.

Students will have math practice problems each week either on a worksheet or the online platform MyOpenMath. This practice is imperative to mastery of the concepts. They must also post questions and respond to their peers. They will also post a video explanation of a practice problem approximately every other week.2 - 4 每週課外時間

There will be short assessments most weeks to review the concepts. There will also be one project in the factoring unit. At the end of the course there will be a final assessment. Per parent request, I can provide grades for the classwork and assessments if needed for a credit.提供的成績
Grades are offered per parent request. Students must submit work through the classroom page. A grade document will be shared with the student and parent so they can see how they are progressing through the course.
