The African American oral history of storytelling is rooted in the tradition of the African griot. This tradition has continued to survive here in the United States, carrying the stories, the culture, and the spirit of the African-American experience. Learners will be introduced to the tradition of telling stories, passed down from generation to generation within the African-American culture. This class helps students comprehend various styles of traditional stories created throughout the African diaspora. Exposing students to the culture through selected stories, they are able to enhance their understanding of African American traditions.
I am a certified teacher with specialized training in reading interventions, diverse learners, and facilitating groups for students of all ages.
