No previous dance or acro experience required. Acro dance is a beautiful genre of dance that combines ballet, jazz, and gymnastics. It requires a lot of conditioning, practice, and patience. In this introductory course, we will focus on conditioning, stretching, and drilling basic acro dance skills while putting them together in a routine. I have been dancing for most of my life. I teach dance, gymnastics, and cheerleading. I teach in-person classes at a dance studio in the DFW area of Texas. I also owned my own studio for two years in Grand Prairie, Texas. It was called Dance With Jenny!
To take this class, a student MUST have a soft surface to practice on- preferably a yoga or tumbling mat, but carpet is all right as well. Absolutely no hard floors. The student must have an open space of at least 8' by 8' so that they child does not bump into anything if he or she falls out of a move. The child must also be barefoot and wear form-fitting clothes- nothing too loose. An adult must also supervise the student throughout the duration of the class to ensure the child is not pushing themselves too hard or risking injury.

An adult caregiver should supervise students as they take this class and ensure that they adhere to the correct flooring requirement, spacing requirement, and clothing requirement. Acro dance is a physical art form and injuries can occur if children are not focused and not practicing in the right setting or clothing. It is imperative that students go barefoot- socks are easy to slip in.
