This class is taught in English.
Students will learn and revisit the letters of the alphabet through a variety of learning tools, including songs, dances, direct teaching, reading, and extension activities.
Students will learn:
 - to identify upper and lowercase letters of the alphabet
 - the sound(s) that each letter makes
 - how to identify words that begin with each letter of the alphabet
Students will develop early literacy skills through interactive read-alouds.
I am heading into my fourth year of teaching preschool literacy on Outschool. Prior to my Outschool career, I was a literacy tutor and interventionist for five years. I have a BFA in English and a MA in Education. My own daughter learned the alphabet in my online ABC classes, so I truly believe in them and have crafted them to be the most fun and engaging class a kid can take!
Homework Offered
At the end of class, I will provide a couple of at-home sheets for your learner to complete so that I am able to assess their learning. One will show me if they are able to identify the letter of the day, and another will show me that they know the sound the letter makes and which words contain that sound. I will provide additional *optional* activities with some letter days (like a vegetable soup recipe for letter V day) so that you can keep the fun going at home! I will also provide links to online games for students to continue practicing their letters after class is over.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Grades Offered
A paper and writing utensil will be needed in every class.
Our class will include movement, so students will benefit from being able to get out of their seat, and will enjoy class the most with at least enough room to spin with their arms out. All students will be able to access all parts of class seated, but most usually enjoy moving along with the songs!
