The students will get an opportunity to use their creative skills. They will engineer, craft and measure. They will get to choose the materials they want to use and how they're going to use this material to make their item effective. At times we will include reading out loud verbally or sharing a story in video form. And we will have a dance party for our break in the middle of class. Your child will need to collect some items found around the home that you would consider trash for this engineering stem course. They can have an empty bucket or tub and collect items such as toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls, popsicle sticks, toothpicks, cotton balls, pipe cleaners, glue, tape, scissors, paper plates, plasticware, water bottle caps and craft items.
It is important for parents to know that in this class your child needs to be creative and make these things solely by themselves. This is part of independent learning and critical thinking. This is a craft activity and will require some items that you can purchase or collect from around the home.
