This engaging introductory class (one to six students)—which briefly looks at fourteen novel-writing tips—will walk your student through the process of writing a complete novel or short story. I also aim to teach a 6-week course (one class per week) that will dig deeper into each of those 14 tips! We will walk through 14 different tips that will help anyone wanting to write and complete fiction stories: 1. Stop the Wishing, 2. Read. Read a Lot, 3. Don't Worry (yet) About Your Prose, 4. The Things You Already Know, 5. The Left & Right Sides of the Cursor, 6. Road Map or Travel Adventurously?, 7. Plot-ing, 8. Finish the Journey, 9. Story Ideas, 10. Clock? What Clock?, 11. Fall in Love!, 12. Fear Not, 13. The Editor, 14. Don't Forget the Real World
I am an award-winning published author of four suspense novels. My current work in progress (WIP) is a Cold War story about a family escaping into the West from East Germany. I'm an avid reader of various kinds of fiction: epic fantasy, geo-political thrillers, coming-of-age stories, contemporary & historical, literary, young-adult (YA), and sci-fi, as well as stories that are faith-based and/or biography-based. Additionally, I co-host a regional bi-monthly authors group.
If I can figure out how to make them available prior to class, I will provide a list of the "14 Writing Tips for Aspiring Fiction Authors" mentioned in the class description.
