每週 1-2 小時. Students will be reading independently and maintaining a reading journal. They will also work on broadening their vocabulary (general and academic), which will require daily review. At times, there will be remediation that may need to be completed outside of session time in order to make sure they understand and develop the skills they need in order to obtain proficiency.評估
There will be assessments throughout the class. The assessments will provide information about proficiency and possible need for remediation.評分
Grades will be based on below proficiency, approaching proficiency, and proficient. Students who are below and approaching proficiency will recieve feedback and remediation in order to move to proficient. This 7th Grade English Language Arts class is Semester 1 of 2. This SELF-PACED (no live sessions) class lasts for 13 weeks and covers Unit 1 and Unit 2. Unit 3 and Unit 4 are covered in 7th Grade English Language Arts Semester 2. This comprehensive class covers grammar, writing, reading, and vocabulary building that aligns with College and Career Readiness Standards. Students will use the required textbook, "Springboard English Language Arts 7th Grade;" vocabulary text, "Sadlier Vocabulary Workshop Achieve Level B;" teacher created videos, Google Drive (Docs, Slides, Forms), classroom discussion board, independent reading journals, Discovering Voice, and teacher-created resources to learn, practice, and reach proficiency in 7th Grade ELA. The entire year's course has been created with knowledge of the language skills students need to be success in both future classes and beyond. This class is the first semester of the 7th Grade year. Unit 1 covers weeks 1-6. Unit 2 covers weeks 6-13. Ever lesson will have the following structure: 1) Brain Opener - (3-5 min) assignment focusing on language, writing, editing, vocabulary, or grammar 2) Discovering Voice - (6-8 min) reading and language analysis lesson that actively teaches detail, description, figurative language, diction, and tone through application. 3) Vocabulary Lesson - (10 min) daily use of weekly vocabulary words that will then be used in completion of class lesson. 4) Daily Lesson (described in the syllabus) - (30-45 min) 5) Reflection - (2-3 min) a prompted reflection that allows the student to reflected on how the lesson went. This allows me to see how the student is doing on a daily basis.

課 1:
1.1: Previewing the Unit
We will begin the study of "The Choices We Make" exploring the major concepts and skills be responding to the unit's Essential Questions. They will assess their level of comfort with the unit's Academic Vocabulary and Literary Terms. Students revisit the Essential Question and terms throughout the unit to build their conceptual understanding. [CCRS L.7.7]

1.2: Exploring the Concept of Choice
Lesson 2 prepares students for the work they will do in this unit. 1: students begin to broaden their understanding of "choices," the topic of their personal narrative, by analyzing a variety of thought-provoking quotes. 2: students make choices for independent reading and set reading and writing goals. 3: students create cover of their portfolio, which will become the collection of work for students to review, revise, and reflect upon during each unit instruction. 1.3: Choices and Consequences: Paired Poetry, Pt. 1
Students learn key vocabulary (e.g., figurative language, denotation, connotation, and stanza) in order to analyze a writer's craft. Next, students analyze two poems to deepen their understanding of "choice and consequence," as well as to compare how the writers use diction for effect.
