Students will be assessed informally on an ongoing basis. At the end of each chapter, a formal test will be given to formally monitor student progress. A formal letter grade can be provided upon request at the beginning of the course.評分

Welcome to sixth grade math! I can't wait for you to join the Moxie Learning family! This series of 4 classes can be used as your child's sole math course for their year or as a supplement to another math class or curriculum. Students should have successfully completed a fifth grade math class. THIS COURSE SERIES WILL COVER ALL 6TH GRADE MATERIAL AND SOME 7TH GRADE MATERIAL. If your child tends to struggle with math content check out our fifth grade class which covers all of fifth and some 6th grade material. We will work through the Singapore Math Dimensions curriculum which is aligned with common core standards and demands deep understanding of concepts. In this class, we will play many games to practice the concepts we are learning. My teaching style is "I do, We do, You do" through this method, I am able to meet students where they are at and differentiate their learning. Our classes become small families throughout the quarter and year. It is important for students to come to class ready to participate in their learning with their cameras on and limited distractions around them. Here is a sample schedule of our class. I may adapt this schedule to fit the needs of the learners in each section. Week 1 Chapter 3: Review Fractions -Multiplying and Dividing Fractions -Fraction Word Problems Weeks 2-3 - Writing Fractions as Decimals - Adding and Subtracting Decimals - Multiplying and Dividing Decimals Weeks 4-5 - Recognize Negative Numbers - Compare Positive and Negative Numbers Weeks 6-7 - Compare Quantities using Ratios - Equivalent Ratios - Ratios and Fractions Weeks 8-9 - Average Rate - Unit Rate - Meaning of a Percent

Most materials are included in the cost of the class (textbook, student notebook, etc.). Students will also need to print out tests at the end of each chapter to be completed in class.

Hello,
My name is Amy Sneath and I am the creator of Moxie Learning. Our company of teachers aim to provide a world class education without the limits of physical location. When I was in school, I fell victim to math phobia and believed I was "bad" at math. Now I pride myself on meeting students where they are at and building their confidence to see they can learn any concept. I have experience in traditional 3rd and 4th grade classrooms teaching math and have seen first hand the difference in student achievement when they build confidence in themselves. This creates a life long love of learning which is even more valuable than the specific skills they will learn in my classroom.
