This is part two of a year long class!! Quarter 2 focuses on algebraic thinking. This is a complete 6th grade math curriculum that follows the common core standards. Following each live meeting I will send homework assignments for students to complete the following day. I will also provide timely feedback about student homework each week! At the end of each quarter I will provide an open note test for students to complete. I will use discussion, the interactive white board, the chat box, and games to engage the learners in math talk and discussion throughout this year! 

Week 1: Ratios, ratio tables, word problems. 

Week 2: Unit rate, using unit rate to determine the better buy! Introduce cross multiplication.

Week 3: Use ratios and cross multiplication to solve percent word problems.

Week 4: Use proportions to convert measurements!

Week 5: What is a variable? Identify parts of an equation. Translating expressions and equations. Writing expressions to match real life word problems. 

Week 6: Substitution and solving one step equations that include whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.

Week 7: Combining like terms, distributive property.

Week 8: Factoring and Algebra review!
