Welcome to an enriching 6th-grade reading and writing class where students will master all of the core skills from a typical 6th-grade Language Arts class.

📚 Expand vocabulary and use context clues to determine the meaning of new words

W R I T I N G  S K I L L S  C O V E R E D :

✍ Create paragraphs and multiple-paragraph essays
✍ Practice both expository and persuasive writing
✍ Use facts to explain new concepts 
✍ Use persuasive techniques such as sticking to one opinion and addressing a counterclaim
✍ Master the tools to approach any writing assignment with confidence


Students will alternate weekly between reading and writing lessons, though many will overlap as well. Students will read short stories, poetry, and interesting nonfiction articles. They will also learn step-by-step techniques for writing essays.

Please reach out to the teacher if you need any assistance. Some classes may include collaborating on a Google Doc, but students can do so without logging in, or can use the chat box instead.

Her favorite writing style is creative nonfiction and her favorite book (although it changes regularly) is currently the original Dracula.
