每週 1 小時. Students will be offered homework practice for skills that they struggle with or need practice for. They will not need to turn it in, but will have the opportunity to review skills if needed. We will read through our 2 novel studies. Student will be assigned reading occasionally outside of the class. They will read no more than 1 chapter each assignment.評估
Students will occasionally take assessments to ensure that they are understanding the material. These assements are only available following the course and upon request.and完成證書
Students will be informally assessed through observation and participation. Students will be assigned written reports that will count toward their writing portfolio. 💬 STRUCTURE: This is full term English Language Arts course that meets 4 days a week & last 12 weeks. This is a Full Term Class 💯 CONTENT: This course is a great choice for homeschooled students as it covers the domains of English Language Arts to include; reading comprehension, fluency, grammar, spelling, vocabulary, writing, and more. This course can be used as a supplement to ela course or anything the student is currently working on. We complete novel studies, work & learn in Canva, and use Kahoot & other gaming structures as well. This one class offers so much possibility. This curriculum is designed for 6th and 7th Graders. LEARN in : * Canva * Kahoot * Google Slides 💪 NEEDED : In this course we will use games, slides, video clips, and discussions. We play games and building confidence & growth mindset along the way. We will implement Google classroom where appropriate. I ask that students have a Kahoot account and a Canva account ( free version). This course is fun and interactive. It covers standards appropriate for 6th and 7th grade. We study 2 major novels throughout this course. There are available copies free and/or for sale which can be purchased in different forms : book, audiobook or digital copy. 🤷♀️ REQUIRED SKILLS: Students should have successfully completed any 5th grade English Language Arts Class and be on grade level. Answer keys are also provided. 😀 IN CLASS: Each class begins with a sort discussion of growth mindset where we also aim to develop positive study habits and goal setting. We then review a minilesson in skills practice. We complete novel studies to include vocabulary, comprehension, and activities corresponding to weekly objectives. We also complete writings each week in line with class. Generally we have short discussions on topic and or/ play games for review during the week. We aim to increase our skills & confidence. 💕💖 VOCABULARY WRITING CLUB: This class creative writing course meets 1x a week and offers review of ELA Specific Skills. It is for students 4th- 7th grade. Reading Comprehension:
a. Analyze and interpret texts.
b. Identify main ideas, supporting details, and themes in a text.
c. Make inferences and draw conclusions based on textual evidence.
d. Analyze characters, settings, and plot development.
e. Determine the author's purpose and point of view.
f. Compare and contrast different texts and genres.
Fluency:
a. Read aloud with accuracy, appropriate pacing, and intonation.
b. Use context clues to decode unfamiliar words.
c. Read grade-level texts with increased speed and accuracy.
d. Use strategies to improve reading rate and expression.
Writing:
a. Write clear and coherent paragraphs and essays.
b. Develop a thesis statement and support it with evidence.
c. Organize ideas logically and use appropriate transitions.
d. Revise and edit writing for grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
e. Use different types of writing, such as narrative and persuasive
Grammar:
a. Understand and use correct context clues
b. Recognize prefix and suffix and meanings
c. Use punctuation marks accurately, including commas, apostrophes, and quotation marks.
d. Identify resources for study
e. Use capitalization and spelling correctly.
F. Understand connotation
Vocabulary:
a. Expand vocabulary through reading and direct instruction.
b. Determine the meaning of words using context clues.
C. Use vocabulary strategies to understand and learn new words.
d. Understand and use academic and domain-specific vocabulary.
Speaking and Listening:
a. Participate in group discussions, presentations, and debates.
b. Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding.
c. Use effective speaking and listening strategies, such as summarizing, paraphrasing, and clarifying.
d. Follow rules of etiquette and collaboration during discussions.
Critical Thinking and Analysis:
a. Analyze and evaluate arguments and claims in texts.
