Learners will practise their 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9 times tables in a highly engaging and fun way through song, skip counting, repeated addition, interactive games, printable activity sheets, fun hacks and tips for problem solving from the teacher. Class size is set a maximum of 4 students to ensure the best learning experience through a high level of engagement, focussed questioning and taking turns (learners are encouraged to think of their own responses to any questions asked while they wait for their own turn). • Firstly, learners will be welcomed to class before listening to a multiplication song. • Then, we will explore number patterns through repeated addition and skip counting. • Then, I will share a hack to aid learning the table. • Next, I will share a poster with the multiplication table in its formal format before we complete an activity with a pictorial representation of the multiplication calculations. • Throughout class, I will address any common misconceptions by sharing really useful hints and tips for solving any of the calculations, such a building on previous knowledge. • Then, we will begin answering the questions on the related activity sheet (some of the questions involve problem solving and critical thinking, such as using the inverse of multiplication; division). We will purposefully leave questions unanswered so each learner can independently finish outside of class if they wish to consolidate their learning. • We will finish the class by putting our new knowledge into practise with various interactive games where each learner will be given control of my screen for a fully immersive experience.

Each learner will come away with a tool box packed with strategies for mastering the multiplication tables before they are able to memorise through plenty of repeated practise and time.

Songs and interactive games are from Twinkl, Maths Frame, ICT games and Top Marks which are all age appropriate.
After class I will provide links to YouTube for additional songs and hacks your learner may access with your permission.

This multiplication Summer Camp is for students who can reliably recite or skip count the 2, 3, 5 and 10 multiplication tables.

A colour printer is an advantage but not necessary if students are able to use Zoom's annotate function to write and draw electronically on the provided activity sheets. Paper and pencils or pens to write notes and and follow the teacher when copying the multiplication hacks.

I am a UK qualified Primary School teacher with seven years experience in total and one and a half years teaching online with Outschool. I gained Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) by completing a PGCE (Post Graduate Certificate of Education) in Primary Education with a Specialism in Mathematics.
