Class Content: This course is designed for learners at a third and fourth grade level and will encompass all parts of the reading and phonics materials. We will be utilizing the common core curriculum as a basis for this course and will be adjusting based on what learners need. Learners will learn and improve their reading/ELA skills at a second and third grade level in reading, comprehension, grammar/language arts, sight words and phonics, vocabulary, and writing.
I have been teaching in a brick and mortar school for 10 years and have been working with children for 20 years. I have taught all grades kindergarten through sixth grade. I can easily differentiate to reach my students on their needs since I have taught all elementary grades.

For learners that come back week to week I will send an update on how learners are doing once a month. For learners that are only able to attend a couple times please contact me prior to class if you want a review on how your learner does in class. I will be doing informal observations throughout the course and adjust as needed. Please let me know prior to class if you would like a certificate or grade. I am happy to provide something.
We will be using a variety of learning strategies including hands-on, games, activities, reading and note taking so all learners are successful with the material.
Learners should be working at a 3rd or 4th grade level for this course.
Each week materials will be posted in the classroom prior to class. Please print all materials before class to get the best experience possible. During our welcome time learners will be able to grab any last minute materials but it would be best if materials are available prior to class because this class will have to stick to the time schedule listed. A general list of materials are as follows: pencils erasers coloring materials-markers, crayons, colored pencils scissors glue

Please be close by for learners, off screen, so if technical issues arise during class you can help. Depending on your learner's needs, please be close by for activities with scissors, glue, etc. Tech info: During class we may be using outschool approved websites such as kahoot, nearpod, or other websites. Students will need to know how to split screens or have a second device ready to go to get the most out of the online game activities. I will also have the option for learners to be able to use the chat features and screen share with the class if that is more comfortable for learners. National Geographic for Kids will be a website that we use for our research project. This website is designed for children by national geographic and offers lots of fun activities that kids can use to help them learn.
I will be using common core curriculum to develop engaging, grade level materials, dolch sight word lists, and various books. Each week I will post the book we will be reading prior to class if you would like for your learner to have their own copy of the book to follow along with, but this is a personal preference. Learners are not required to have the books.
