This class is individualized for each child that enrolls in the course. We will spend 45 minutes working with graphic organizers, planning sheets, formatting a paragraph or essay, and learning how to use stronger words, more precise language, and effective sentence structure. English Language Learners, students with dyslexia, and below grade level writers would highly benefit from the strategies and skills practice in class. Students will practice and learn skills that all proficient writers need to be successful. Students will learn to be independent in planning written responses and producing written work for school.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in English and Specialist Degree in Education. I taught english and reading for ten years and was a literacy coach for five years; in this position I coached and taught teachers how to be most effective in instructional practices in in the teaching or reading and writing. Also, I have successfully taught english and writing to Chinese students for the past four years via an online platform. Lastly, I have been an Assistant Principal of a middle school for the last eight years where my focus of teacher development and evaluation is in the subjects of reading and english.
