✨ Come learn English with Ms. Amanda! ✨  I am an ESL Specialist and also hold 120-hour internationally recognized TESOL and TEFL certificates. I taught English as a Second Language (ESL) for three years in an elementary setting and one year at a middle school. Afterwards, I transitioned to teaching online after becoming a mom! Over the last nine years of teaching online, I have taught English to learners from all over the world. During this time, I had the privilege of teaching over 5,000 students in over 15,000 classes, and accumulated over 2,000 parent followers! In addition, I am a certified teacher who has been teaching learners ages 3 - 15 for the last 13 years. My Bachelor's degree is in Elementary Education with a minor in Early Childhood Education. I also have a Master's degree in Classroom Technology. 


My goal of this 1-on-1 tutoring class is to enhance your learner's overall English skills. This class is perfect for learners who are learning English as a second language! Each lesson will focus on reading comprehension, writing, speaking, listening, vocabulary, phonics, pronunciation, and grammar. Depending on the individual needs of your child, I will focus more attention in specific areas. I will use our first class to briefly get to know each other and then assess your learner's English language proficiency level. I will use these results to determine which level of English classes will best suit them. I will continue to adjust this, as needed, while your learner and I study English together!

I will begin each class by introducing myself, welcoming your learner to the classroom, and quickly going over my class expectations. We will work through each lesson at your learner's pace. I excel at extending the lessons as needed based on your individual learner's needs! At the end of each class, I try to allow one or two minutes for your learner to share an object, story, or hobby with me!

First and foremost, you can always expect a smile on my face! I have received so many compliments over the years of what a kind and patient teacher I am. My goal during each and every class is to effectively teach the English concepts of each lesson, but also guide your learner to further their previous understanding of the English language by making connections with the new information. I try to provide as much guidance as needed to meet your learner’s needs, and challenge each learner as I see fit!

After every class, I will send a class summary/feedback with screenshots from class. I will also assign writing home if the learner/family requests it. The class recording will be available. Please feel free to message me at any time! My goal is to keep an open line of communication and work closely with families to improve their child's overall English abilities!

I strive my best to provide a wonderful learning experience for all learners. I’d like to share some information you can expect from my class:

✨ At times, I may mute learners to minimize the background noise in the classroom. Any small noise is easily picked up on the microphone in Zoom. By utilizing the mute/unmute feature, it reduces distractions, gives your learner a better learning experience, and helps the overall online classroom!

✨ I use the annotate function on the screen in every class so that I can write and help guide my learners on the screen. I recognize that some learner devices don’t support this function.

✨ All recordings will be available in the classroom within a few hours of class ended. In addition, I will post a class summary with feedback and screenshots shortly after class ends.

✨ I offer this class on different days at different times. If you find another class day/time works better for you, please feel free to message me!

✨ I am honored that you are trusting me to spend time learning with your child. Please know that I take safety very seriously. To create a safe classroom environment, I follow Outschool’s verification process at the beginning of each class. I will ask your learner (unless they have the verification badge) to turn on their camera so I can see them at the beginning of each class. If they feel more comfortable taking class with their camera off, they are welcome to do so after I verify them! If your learner’s camera is not working, I will encourage them to log out and back in, or try a different device. If the camera is still not working, please feel free to contact Outschool Support for assistance.
