In this group, learners will be sorted into a "house" or small group to complete challenges, lessons, escape rooms, in fun "House Point" challenges. The success and enjoyment of this group will be increased by learner participation! The more interaction, the more fun!
 
Learners will be encouraged to complete challenges to earn the title of "Featured House of the month.” Members of the winning house will receive 50% off the next months membership.
 
 This group will encourage learners to interact with each other, engage in interactive challenges, post images and videos of their own wizard themed creations, and engage in written role play activities, at their own pace on whatever schedule works best! 
 
 Upon joining the group, new learners meet the headmistress (played by Miss Rachel) via video message, complete a Sorting Activity to be placed into one of four houses or dorms: 

: Arulean (teal/purple/copper represented by the element of water) 
Celosia (red/black/silver represented by the element of fire)
 Glennvaron (green/brown/bronze represented by the element of earth)
 Ilmari (blue/white/gold represented by the element of air) 

Learners are also encouraged to create a short video introduction of themselves to share with the teacher and other learners in the group .  
 
 NOTE: learners who have participated in one of Miss Rachel's Wizard Academy Classes in the past can remain in the house they were sorted into during class or choose to complete the sorting again to see if they would be placed into a different house. 
 
 HOW IT WORKS:
 -Throughout the month prompts and challenges that learners may complete on their own time will be posted. Learners are encouraged to ask questions and share ideas and discoveries in the group throughout the month. NOTE: groups are meant to be opportunities for guided student interaction, so the activity and enjoyment of the group depends on learner interaction!
 - House Points will be awarded for completed projects, challenges, and prompts.
 - Learners can also award points to classmates for certain challenges. 
 - By the last week of the month, students are to submit photos and/or video of their work including any explanations they would like to add about their work or process via comments or video. 
 -On The first day of the month, the "House of the Month” (the House that earned the most points the previous month) will be announced and will earn additional incentives. 
 
 Throughout the month I respond or give feedback as we build our story together. I look forward to seeing how each student will put their own spin and creativity into their projects and challenges. Learners are encouraged to view other student comments and submissions throughout the month and share their own thoughts and ideas as well as to post questions or comments in the group for our community of learners to see and interact with. 
 
 I will model ways to offer constructive criticism and kind compliments so students learn appropriate ways to discuss other's work. 
 
 If the student's art work or project takes a different turn, I fully encourage them to go with it and see where it leads! Creativity and the process is always more important than the product!
