수업 소개
Interested in my Zoology 101 course but want to take it in smaller "bites"? This is the course for you! An overview of animal life including the diversity and evolution of major animal groups, reproduction, development, and aspects of physiological function. Sessions will examine form, function, and evolutionary relationships in a wide variety of animal types. Lectures and materials will be posted weekly on Monday mornings (Eastern Time). Lectures will involve a 15-30 minute pre-recorded video. Students will be required to interact with and engage with each other through activities posted in the classroom. Feedback will be provided regularly. If you are enrolling multiple learners in different age groups for this course, please note lecture videos are the same for both the 10-13 and 14-18 groupings. The age groups are split up so discussions as well as questions and assistance is age appropriate. For any questions regarding this age split, feel free to private message me. The specific learning goals for Zoology 101 are to provide learners with a working knowledge of fundamental principles in zoology while also bringing them entertainment through a unique form of instruction. Thus, this course will provide students with an opportunity to laugh with their instructor and fellow students while also gaining information regarding animal classification and systematics, animal structure and function relationships, evolution between and within major animal groups, human evolution, and animal reproduction and development. Pre-recorded lectures will be posted in the classroom every Monday at 8AM Eastern. Online discussions will be prompted in the Outschool classroom throughout the week after the lecture video has been posted. This will allow learners to discuss ideas, concepts, and questions with their fellow learners. I will personally be monitoring the classroom, actively participating, encouraging discussion, and supplying guidance throughout. In addition to the above guided discussions, quizzes, investigations, and tasks will be provided throughout the semester to supplement the class and allow learners to build upon what they have learned in lecture. In addition, an interactive group scavenger hunt will take place in the classroom on the fourth week as a method of summarizing our learn into a group activity. The weekly course schedule will be as follows: Week One: Introduction, Evolution, and Classification Week Two: Phyla Porifera and Cnidaria Week Three: Phyla Annelida and Mollusca Week Four: Phyla Rotifera, Playhelminthes, and Nemata Week Five: Phylum Arthropoda
