In this class we will discuss 5 different writing styles: expository, persuasive, narrative, procedural (how to), and poetical. Students will learn different literary devices and techniques each week as well and get a chance to practice using them in their own writing pieces. The only exception is the week that focuses on procedural writing; in that week we take a closer look at the parts of a procedural essay that are unique to this kind of writing instead of looking into more literary...
I will provide a link to a resource that will help your student cite any sources he/she uses to complete his/her writing assignments. This source has different requirements for different grades. Please print out or direct your student to the one that is appropriate for his/her grade level. I will also provide a document with the common proofreading marks as an attachment in the classroom section and each week I will attach a graphic organizer corresponding to that weeks writing style. Students will use this graphic organizer to complete their brainstorming.
