In this class, students will learn how to build an effective informative essay introduction. A PowerPoint presentation will be used as well as a handout, which is linked to this page for student and parent access. The topics to be covered include the purpose of an introduction, its sections, and how to construct each section. Students will improve their ability and confidence in comprising an effective essay introduction by understanding each component.
This class is being offered so that students may attain an important skill set in developing an essay and overall coherent writing abilities. Writing skills go a long way, in both the academic world and the professional world. As a middle-school writing teacher, I have experience in training students to develop a multi-paragraph essay with a strong emphasis on constructing an effective thesis statement, which is the foundation of the essay. In addition, I have an extensive background as a life-long writer, having content in short stories, news articles, plays, poetry, research papers, and more. With my array of expertise, I offer a unique perspective to students as they engage in the writing process.
