Writing a personal recount can be a little tricky; we don’t have the creative freedom of a fictional story but we don’t want our factual recount to be boring, either. Never fear! In this one time class, we’ll look at how we can plan out a personal recount so that it fulfils our chronological order criteria and includes all of the features that it needs, without making it sound like a dull list of events. Students will learn: To understand the difference between chronological and non-chronological writing. To write a factual, chronological personal recount To plan out a recount To identify and apply the features of a personal recount, including descriptive and emotive language, paragraphing and a conclusion.
Writing is my passion and as well as majoring in English at university, along with Theatre Arts, I've almost 20 years’ experience in teaching English in primary schools (4-11-year-olds). Over those years I have worked regularly with many groups of children specifically on English writing skills, including writing chronological personal recounts.

A notebook or paper and something to write with, or a device to use for writing. A small whiteboard may be handy but by no means necessary.
