In this multi-day writing camp, students will build on their writing skills beginning with learning to label drawings and move into more of creating sentences. I keep the class small so that I am able to provide some one-on-one time with each student throughout the course as they work independently at times. Students will learn to use capitalization and punctuation when writing. Students will learn proper spacing for writing. Students will learn to label a picture as the first stage of writing. Students will use labels and sight words along with CVC or phonetically spelled words to create and write one to four sentences.
I have years of experience teaching literacy skills in the elementary school. I am currently working on my Master's in Reading and have taken many professional development courses to continue my craft in providing effective instruction that helps students achieve goals and become successful learners. More than anything, I am just a person who cares and wants children to feel successful and accomplished.

It is best for students use lined paper often used in kindergarten (lined handwriting tablet). This paper helps students to follow the formation of letters as uppercase and lowercase as well as large enough to use spacing between words correctly. The tablets with lines and picture box at the top is even better so that students can draw to match their sentence. One or both is up to you. Pencil, eraser Some weeks, I may provide a handout that can be completed in class or at home to provide further practice. Any handouts I provide can be found in the classroom tab.
