I provide one-on-one coaching for students interested in improving their college admissions essays and scholarship essays.  Each class will be individualized based on the student's needs. The topics covered may include but are not limited to: attention grabbers and hooks, tone, descriptive writing (showing vs. telling), sentence structure, mechanics / conventions, and effective storytelling in writing.

For students starting from scratch, I recommend booking (2) back-to-back sessions to allow for more time. To maximize time, I suggest students make a list of any quotes they love, challenges or obstacles they have overcome, special talents and gifts, life-changing or unique experiences, and specific lessons they have learned about themselves. We will use the list to craft personal stories to make the students' essay memorable.

The structure of the class will be tailored to the individual student. If a student comes with an initial draft, I will work with the student to finalize the draft through revision, editing, and proofreading. If the student needs to write a draft, I will work with the student to begin the writing process. 

I have an engaging teaching style and will interact directly with each student during the class session. I will demonstrate writing techniques and use practical strategies that can be applied after the class session. I encourage students to ask questions as we work through the writing process. I will also provide specific feedback at the end of the session to help the student with next steps.
