Do word problems drive your child crazy? Then this class is for them!

Word Problem Mania: How to Solve Algebra Word Problems is designed for middle and high school students who are having trouble with word problems and /or want to become better problem solvers.

In this class, students will learn proven, step-by-step techniques for solving word problems in algebra.  Students will interact with the teacher and each other by problem-solving together.   The goal is to help remove the anxiety and fear that comes with doing math.

Each class will begin with the general steps to solving word problems.
We will then tackle a different type of word problem and learn more specific techniques.
Students will also have the option of bringing their own word problems to solve.

Throughout the ongoing series we will tackle solving word problems that include some of the following topics:
Week of June 4 -  Numbers
Week of June 11-  Time, Rate and Distance
Week of June 18-  Mixtures
Week of June 25-  Coins

Week of August 13- Levers
Week of August 20- Finance
Week of August 27 - Work

Week of September 10 - Digits
Week of September 17- Solutions Using Two Unknowns
Week of September 24- Quadratics

The goal is to help create a love for mathematics one problem at a time.
