⭐ Welcome to your new favorite Kindergarten class. This class is designed to prepare your child for kindergarten with a fun, interactive, and structured learning environment! This class meets four times a week, Monday through Thursday, for 35 minutes each session, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging experience. ⭐ 🎓 This 34-week class will cover a full kindergarten curriculum to fully prepare learners to enter the 1st grade! 🎓 Your child will learn the essential skills needed for their future learning, including such as ABCs, phonics rules, spelling, beginning language arts skills, sight words, numbers and number formation, beginning math skills (including beginning geometry), colors, following simple instructions, and social skills, just to name a few skills! 🔴 Mondays: Monday's are focused on introducing new English concepts, including phonics and high-frequency words. 🔴 Tuesdays: Tuesday's are focused on introducing new Math concepts, like numbers, addition, subtraction, shapes, terms, etc. 🔴 Wednesdays: We will continue to focus on our review of the phonics sounds and words introduced on Monday. This will include reading stories and focusing on deeper understanding and connections. We will also focus on writing and spelling. 🔴 Thursdays: We will continue to build on the counting and number recognition activities from Tuesday, and solve more complex problems and learn different strategies. 💡 Each class begins with welcomes and greetings, discussing the day, our class calendar, meeting social/emotional needs, and then that is followed by the main lesson. While we will not have class on Fridays, a homework packet will be provided to reinforce the week's learning at home at your convenience. Please keep in mind that science and social studies will be included, but will be interwoven into the English/Math lessons.💡 ⏰ Students will have multiple opportunities to interact with the teacher and classmates through discussions, show-and-tell, and interactive brain breaks. I encourage participation and personal expression, fostering a supportive and inclusive classroom environment. We will also practice with multiple types of resources, including; videos, movement, songs and rhymes, presentations, activities and games, ebooks, and homework packets for extra fun and practice. 📅 More formal assessments will be conducted monthly to monitor progress and ensure retention of information. These will be completed in class and parents can also ask for homework to access as well. 📚Class Items Needed📚 🌟 Printed Materials - I will provide the students with printable workbooks twice per week so they can use them during class as well as for homework. If you can not print off these materials, please have some paper, pencils/crayons, or a dry erase board and marker for your student to use. 🌟 1-Subject Notebook or loose-leaf paper - We will complete many interactive activities and students will need a way to add to their notebooks or papers week to week. This will include sight words and spelling words, journal entries, etc. 🌟 Other items needed from time to time will include glue sticks, glue, crayons, child scissors, etc. You will always be informed the Friday before class starts the next week on what will be needed! ⭐️⭐️ You can join this class any week, but this course does build on content and I highly recommend going through the full curriculum for 1st grade readiness. ⭐️⭐️ Want to view the first few months of lessons? This class focuses on engaging and educational activities tailored for kindergarten learners. While certain themes such as Halloween are designed to be fun and enriching, we prioritize safety and sensitivity in our approach.
Potential Upsetting or Scary Content: We explore some themes like costumes, spooky stories, fairytales, and more that some children may find unsettling. Alternative activities are provided to ensure all children feel comfortable and engaged. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you notice a lesson during the week that you feel will make your child uncomfortable or upset, and we can have another option for them.
Media Content and Tools: If we use any media content or third-party tools, they are carefully selected to be age-appropriate and aligned with educational goals and are approved by Outschool. Families are informed about how these tools will be used and whether an account is required. An example tool that I use is LUMIO Smart Suite. I will share a link to the lesson so we go through the material together. Your student will not need an account and you do not have to sign up. The only requirement is for your student to enter their first name so that I can track their feedback. No other information is needed.
My goal is to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every child feels safe, respected, and excited to learn. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or concerns regarding class content or safety practices.

교사 전문성 및 자격증
My name is Teacher Kim (or Mrs. Kim!) and I am super excited to be spread my love for learning, language arts, and math with young minds. While I had a traditional career as an operations manager and consultant, my career changed when my own daughter was diagnosed with autism and ADHD. While she is considered high-functioning, I noticed how she would struggle in a traditional class setting that didn't allow her to get her wiggles out, explore themes she found interesting, and let her challenge herself and pace herself as needed. This led me to pursue my own teaching journey. We now homeschool, and I am 6 months away from graduating with my second degree, this time in K-12 education with an emphasis in Special Education.
To me, every child deserves a chance to be inspired, engaged, and have FUN! While much of my work in teaching has been towards high school students, I have a soft spot for ages 3-7 as well. These young minds require just as much stimulation as those making their way into adulthood, and they also need help regulating their emotions, meeting their social needs, and so much more. I believe in equipping young learners with a diverse array of knowledge to prepare them not only for kindergarten but to foster continuous learning and growth.
In this class, I hope to emphasize the importance of early education in laying a solid foundation for future academic success. Pre-K is a pivotal time when children begin to explore and understand the world around them. By introducing them to a variety of subjects and skills—from literacy and numeracy to social-emotional development and creative expression—we can empower them to build confidence, curiosity, and critical thinking skills.
I am committed to creating inclusive and engaging learning environments where every child can flourish. By nurturing their natural curiosity and providing age-appropriate challenges, I aim to instill a love for learning that will accompany them throughout their educational journey.
