Hello! I'm Rochelle, thanks for stopping by. Here are a few things about me:
 I have a Master's in Library & Information Science, and a BA in Classical History, with a minor in Greek and Latin. I became adept at research papers and tutored students in writing essays and research papers to help them succeed. As a young adult librarian, I had creative ideas for youth programs and have read a wide variety of children's and young adult books. I love literature!

Types of Classes:
"Adventures in Archaeology!" I love history!  I use an interdisciplinarity approach to learning, so in my archaeology around the world course, the students will learn about archaeology, geography, the use of maps, and a few facts about modern country in which each discovery was made. They will also draw maps and sketch artifacts in the lesson. 

"Tame the Beast of that 5 Paragraph Essay!" I know that students struggle with writing essays and reports. I have a simple format with visuals for writing five-paragraph essays. I try to keep the process easy by using a template and formula with short steps so that students won't become overwhelmed or lost in the details. We will use each student's interests for their class project. 

Mandalas are magic! Students are guided line by line to create a beautiful mandala drawing. In addition to creating a beautiful piece of art, this exercise will help with hand and eye coordination, concentration, and focus, which is very calming. 
If there is time and interest, students will paint their mandalas with watercolor or watercolor pencils. Either result is a work of art.

Little creatures are fun to make! I love to sew and crochet,  so I have a series of classes on hand sewing six-inch muslin or felt dolls, critters, and creatures, and sewing simple clothes from a variety of fabric scraps and felt. We will crochet scarves, book bags, and shawls for them. They will live in the little houses described below. 

Miniature House!  I love miniature worlds. I make doll houses out of shoe boxes and draw delightful and magical rooms for my little creatures to live in. Students will create dollhouses from recycled shoe or boot boxes that can be decorated for every holiday and inspire their imaginations.

Drawing Anime! I love to draw and will guide students in drawing their favorite anime characters. We use a step-by-step process and will color them when we are finished. 

Drawing Dragons! Dragons are wonderful fearsome beasts and drawing them can be very fun and rewarding. Similar to my anime drawing class, students are guided step by step to create beautiful fearsome or friendly dragons. 

Harry Potter's Spellbook. Students will create their own journals and fill them with spells in Latin and drawings. This is a fun way for students to get acquainted with Latin. 

My Teaching Style:
I find it very rewarding to share what I know in ways that are easy to understand and interesting. I consider myself a patient and cheerful guide. I am experienced in teaching online to children and give a lot of positive input and feedback to each of my students. I think learning takes place everywhere and should be fun and interesting.  
Fun facts: I took some time away from the library world and taught production design, and art making props, costumes, and FX makeup at a film school for young adult students on the Spectrum. I play the pennywhistle; I am learning Italian; I love robots and I'm writing a novel set in ancient Rome.
