수업 소개

영어 수준 - 알 수 없음
미국 3학년 - 5학년 학년
Meeting 1:
Students will learn about three types of verbs; action verbs, verbs of being, and helping verbs. We will complete a "Mad Libs" version of a couple songs in which students choose action verbs to complete the passage. A visual representation explaining the three types of verbs is provided, along with three poems by Shel Silverstein will also be discussed.. We will locate the verbs in each poem, identify the types of verbs, and students will write these verbs in the correct place.
Meeting 2:
Recognizing the verb in a sentence affects the ability to identify other words and functions. An action verb distinguishes itself fairly easily because it is a movement. Linking verbs are passive and must be learned. We will play this board game using given linking verbs to make sentences. Seeing the words repeated and using them to create will implant them in memories. After playing the game we will complete a maze then identify the verbs in sentences and decide if the verb is an action verb or linking verb.
Meeting 3:
Students will learn the role of adjectives. They will identify different types of adjectives. We will play a game to practice describing with different kinds of adjectives. Students will use adjectives to describe The Grinch. They will learn about adjectives by relating them to the book by Dr. Seuss, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.
Meeting 4:
In this class students will learn to identify prepositions and prepositional phrases in a sentence. They will know the various parts of these phrases and make their own phrases. They will learn this through teacher explanation, a game which identifies them, and the Dr. Seuss book Green Eggs and Ham. For background knowledge students should understand nouns and adjectives. A worksheet finding prepositional phrases will be available.
Meeting 5:
There will be an explanation of each type of three pronouns; subject, object, and possessive. Then we will play a game I created in which students must choose the correct pronoun to complete the sentence. The game will be played by students rolling one die to take turns. Finally we will complete a "Mad-Libs" type of exercise which I created with popular songs where students choose pronouns to complete the lyrics.
Meeting 6:
Students will learn the definition of a declarative sentence and view examples of it. Learners then learn the definition of an interrogative sentence and see examples of one. Next students learn the meaning of an imperative sentence and see examples of it. Finally learners learn the meaning of an exclamatory sentence and see examples of one. Next, as a sentence appears, students will choose the appropriate type and tell the correct punctuation for it. Then learners will put the correct type of sentence and punctuation for each sentence. (There are about 40) Finally students will be asked to write different types of sentences.
Week 7:
This class begins with the student learning the definition of complete subject and complete predicate. Then there are sentences where the learner will need to identify the complete subject and the complete predicate in each. Next the student learns the definition of simple subject and simple predicate. Learners next will identify the simple subject and simple predicate in several given sentences. Next several sentences are again presented to the learner followed by an "S" or "C". Students will need to determine the simple subject and predicate or complete subject and predicate based on the letter provided, thus learning the difference between complete and simple. Finally the learner will need to make sentences and identify the complete subject and predicate as well as the simple subject and predicate for each sentence.
Week 8:
In this class we play a board game created by the teacher. Each square will practice a skill. The students will identify subjects, direct objects, verbs, tell whether verbs are action or linking, tell whether a linking verb connects the subject to a noun (pn) or adjective (pa), identify adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, and conjunctions, and also determine whether a line is a sentence or fragment. Interjections are explained and examples are given as well.
The game is played by students rolling a die.

I teach classes in many subjects. I am proficient in reading, grammar, and math. I also can teach science, history, social studies, and some Spanish.
I have a college degree in teaching and a permanent certificate. I have taught all subjects to fourth graders including everything involved in science fair participation. I then spent years working as a substitute teacher in all grades from TK through high school. I worked some long-term assignments in the high school teaching language arts, history, business education, job preparation, keyboarding, journalism, and credit recovery.
I believe education is most effective when it is remembered. I believe in creating projects with content and utilizing interactive journals. I have created games to help learn basic concepts in grammar and math. These will be listed as soon as possible! Education can be fun!!
When not working I like to crochet projects to be donated for use or as gifts to family members and I try to volunteer at a local center.
