수업 소개
Class will start with teacher Julia and her Dutch Shepherd, Ginger Peach, demonstrating step by step instruction for that week’s trick skill. First, students will practice the verbal cues and hand movements without their dog. Then they will try it with their dog. Teacher Julia will ask each student to show her their progress so she can give training tips in real time. Each week, we’ll focus on one trick: Week 1: Shake Week 2: Gopher (sit up & beg) Week 3: Spin (circle left & circle right) Week 4: Make Bed Dogs are encouraged to take potty or water breaks as needed so they don’t lose focus or tire out. Please note: Teacher Julia will need to be able to see the student and their dog when actively training. Be sure to pick a space large enough for the human and canine learners.

Students will teach their dogs four fun tricks: shake paw, gopher (sit up & beg), spin circles and make bed. They will learn how to clearly communicate with their dog and build a stronger bond.

Hi! Did you know that dog paws smell like Fritos? (Ask me why in class!) I have been a dog trainer for almost 15 years and own Spot On K9 Sports in South Elgin, IL. I am a member of the Association of Professional Dog Trainers, a Canine Good Citizen and Trick Dog evaluator for AKC, and a Certified Trick Dog Instructor.
I teach using positive reinforcement - that means we use treats, toys and praise. My classes are “Good Dog” (obedience), “Trick Dog” (tricks), “Jumping Dog” (agility), and “Junior Dog Trainer” (learning theory). I help dogs and their people have fun while learning together.
