숙제
주당 1-2시간. Students will read approximately 30-40 pages a week on their own time. Each Sunday, students will have access to the new video and a corresponding one page worksheet with discussion questions and places for fill-in-the blank answers. Each week, I assign a short writing assignment focused around that week's discussion questions and ask the students to share their responses in the classroom. There are also new activities each day like vocabulary words, an I Spy game, a Kahoot trivia game to test their comprehension from the weekly chapters, and a Star Wars origami-making assignment.학습 평가
I ask students to submit any vocabulary words the students didn't recognize or passages the students did not understand. The more questions, comments and posts that students share in the classroom, the more I can understand their knowledge and comprehension of the topics we are discussing.보고계신 지문은 자동 번역 되었습니다

Students will read approximately 30-40 pages a week on their own time. This class does not meet live. Students will have access to two videos a week. The first video will discuss the pages that the students have previously read. The prerecorded sessions will emphasize characters, their motivations, theme, story plausibility, and inferences about what might come next in the story. The second video will include instructions on creating origami. We will create a different Star Wars character each week. I will post my creations in the classroom and challenge students to do the same! Class Weekly Breakdown: On Sundays, students will receive a one page worksheet with discussion questions for each weekly video. The worksheets remind the students of some of the important topics from each chapter. Each week, I assign a short writing assignment focused around that week's discussion questions and ask the students to share their responses in the classroom (so other students may view, comment, and interact as well). On Mondays, I post an I Spy challenge and ask the students to list one specific item they can "spy" from the week's reading. Students can also challenge other students (or myself!) to find other items as well. Tuesdays through Thursdays I will post a vocabulary word for the students to use in a modern sentence. On Fridays, I will post a video with instructions on creating origami. We will create a different Star Wars character each week. Students are encouraged to show off any origami they attempt throughout the class! I'm excited to see the students post pictures or videos of their creations each week. On Saturdays, I'll post a Kahoot trivia game that ties into the weekly reading and gauges students reading comprehension. Students will take the quiz individually and post their score in the classroom to share with their classmates.

According to commonsensemedia.org: This novel is full of humor and light middle school angst over schoolwork, crushes, and friendships. There's also some middle school meanness, including one incidence of bullying, one fight, and name-calling among friends. The kids think and talk about members of the opposite sex whom they "like," and one couple kisses at a school dance.
수업 자료
The students will need their own copy of Tom Angleberger's The Strange Case of Origami Yoda to read on their own. It can be borrowed from the library or even listened to as an audio book. The students will not need a physical copy of the story in class, although they may find it helpful to have when completing the worksheet. They will also need paper (computer, construction, notebook, etc.) to attempt the origami activities.

I have read and lead discussions on many books during my three years as a substitute teacher at the elementary and middle school level. While earning my Master's Degree in Creative Writing for Children and Young Adults, I had endless discussions with my screenplay writer friends about the Star Wars Universe (and I have daily discussions about Star Wars on Outschool). Star Wars is so complex and ever growing that it seems impossible to know it all! Because the Star Wars galaxy is full of hints and questions, supplemental books about the characters make great conversation! It is also nice to find other people (and potential friends) who share a love for Star Wars, science fiction, and good storytelling. This novel to be full of interesting tidbits of information that I am excited to share with fellow Star Wars fans. But even those not obsessed with Star Wars can enjoy this amazing series about friendship and making smart decisions. My goal is to use a world that students care about to help them fall further in love with the written word and perhaps even the origami art form.
