The students will learn the 5 W's (who, what, when, where and why) about the American Revolutionary War.  We will go over several battles and riots that were significant to the war. We will end with the surrender of the British. In each class, my focus will be on making the information relatable and cohesive to the modern day.  I will be giving background information on the British to show why they handled things the way they did. Students should be familiar with a US map. Homework will include a few printables that they will be asked to label and/or color as they please. I will evaluate learner progress based on feedback from them in the class, and I may modify the pace of the lessons accordingly. 
Class #1 Going over the 5 W's so I can get a feel for student background knowledge (Who, what, when, where and why).
Class #2 Going over the map of the colonies and labeling a few important battles/riots. We will be labeling the colonies and showing the location of several battles.
Class #3 Tea and Stamp Tax and the repercussions they had for the British. Were they the tipping point of the revolution? Why were colonists so angry about them?
Class #4 Minute Men and the Boston Massacre. Who were theminutemen? How were they different than militia? What uniforms ans weapons were they given? Why is the Boston Massacre called a massacre?
Class #5  Battle of Lexington and Concord. DId Paul Revere really sound the alarm? Who won? How did this affect the morale of the colonists?
Class #6 Signing of the Declaration of Independence. Who signed it, and what did it mean to them? Who wrote it?
Class #7 Battle of Saratoga and Yorktown. What were the British trying to accomplish? What actually happened? What did this signal?
Class #8 Review and summary of weeks 1-7
