In this ongoing Reading Comprehension class, learners will read both fiction and non-fiction high-interest texts. Learners will learn various reading strategies like(Identifying the Main Idea, Predicting, Visualizing, Summarizing, Using Key Words, etc.) and use them to complete a variety of comprehension activities. The texts will be teacher written. Each of the classes is a stand-alone lesson and students may join or leave the class at any time. Each class will follow the following...
Students will learn and practice a variety of reading strategies to move them from LEARNING TO READ to READING TO LEARN using high-interest texts.
A handout will be required for each class. They will be posted each week in the classroom. Learners should also have the following materials available each week: -pencil and eraser -scissors and a glue stick -highlighter -colored pencils, crayons and/ or markers
