We will follow the lives of Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark as they fight for their freedom, justice, and love. I have been fostering a love of reading since I could read. I love discussing different novels, genres, and diving further into a book than just reading what is on the surface. I find that once analyzing the different themes and symbolism within a novel it helps us understand the characters and story line on a much deeper level. I have led small book clubs for over 5 years and have a passion for reading.
Students will need to bring a copy of the book of the week with them to class (e-books are also acceptable copies to bring). - Week 1: The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins - Week 2: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins - Week 3: Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins - Week 4: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins

As this series falls into the dystopian and sci-fi genres there are graphic scenes of violence as the characters are thrown into a live game where there can only be one survivor.
