수업 소개
This is a flexible schedule class. There will be NO LIVE MEETINGS. All interaction will occur inside the Outschool Classroom area. The course materials for the week will be posted in the classroom at the beginning of each week of the course. Each week will study a period of art history and how cats were represented during it. We will learn about the time period and the artworks from it that depict cats as well as the changing role of cats in the lives of humans throughout the ages. Specific artists will be discussed as well. We will create a piece of artwork representative of the time period we are discussing each week. Step by step lessons will be presented in a video format via a combination of a Keynote/Powerpoint slide presentation and demonstration. Lessons will be a step-by-step follow along format. A PDF version of the presentation will also be available for download. Students will have the whole week to complete their projects on their own time. Videos relating to connected subject matter, including the history of cat domestication and cat science will be linked for students to view on their own schedule. Students will be asked comprehension questions regarding each of the linked videos on the website Edpuzzle. These questions are asked and assessed within each video assigned on EdPuzzle. Students will be expected to engage in several art appreciation and analysis activities through each week. Students will be asked to take a "Slow Look" at each artwork describing what they specifically see and how they understand the artwork. Students will discuss their observations with each other and the teacher will moderate these discussions. Students will be expected to share their finished projects in the classroom each week where students must give feedback on each other's work based on a specific feedback guideline given by the teacher. Weekly video lectures will be a combination of Powerpoint/Keynote Slides and demonstration videos. Students will be guided through a cat themed art project that reflects the stylistic criteria of the artists and periods being discussed. The projects will change weekly while always remaining cat themed. Week One- Baroque Cats- A baroque style image completed in colored pencil. Techniques used will focus on layering, blending and burnishing. Students will need card stock or another thick but smooth paper, pencil, eraser, and colored pencils. Should be a set of least 12 and include a white pencil. Week Two - Rococo Cats - A baroque style image to be completed in chalk pastel on colored pastel or construction paper. Week Three- Impressionist Cats- An impressionist image in watercolor pencil on watercolor paper.
