Students will learn through interactive musical activities including singing, dancing, clapping, and more! Students will learn basic verbal and nonverbal communication skills such as: 1. How to say "Hello" and "Goodbye" 2. How to introduce themselves using the phrase "My name is ____." 3. How to listen and respond (receptive and expressive communication) saying certain words/phrases/sounds. 4. Use of eye contact and other physical communication (high five, smile). 5. How to appropriately socialize and interact with peers.
As a board-certified music therapist, I have a wealth of experience in working with children who have special needs. I have worked with individuals who are both nonverbal and verbal in both one-on-one and group settings. Through the power of music, I have seen children shift from nonverbal to verbal in a matter of minutes.
