수업 소개
In this four-class course, students will learn about fashion photography from photographers of the past and present. We will focus on fashion images that use natural light so that students can recreate photos on their own. The hour-long classes will include instruction with slideshows and brief in-class photo exercises to be sure students are ready for their weekly photoshoot assignments. In addition to sharing their weekly photo with the class, they'll share their final fashion series during the 4th and final class meeting. Seeing "light" and "composition" is the common thread throughout the four classes. Small class sizes allow all students to receive feedback and helpful tips as they continue their photo journeys. Week 1: Intro: Different types of fashion photography. Discuss, what is the purpose of fashion photography? Focus: Peter Lindbergh's black and white fashion photographs, seeing contrast, creating mood. Topics: clothing, accessories, and the question - what are these photos trying to sell? Homework: Three black and white fashion photos in the style of Peter Lindbergh. Week 2: Intro: Blurred lines between Fashion, Art, Celebrity Focus: Arielle Bobb-Willis' colorful photographs and two Elements of Art - Color and Shape Homework: Photos in the style of Arielle Bobb-Willis Week 3: Fashion photography during social distancing and Editing Practice Focus: View options of directing a fashion shoot through Facetime or other online sources. This involves knowing how to direct your model and look for best light and location in their surroundings. Practice editing photos using Snapseed or other phone camera editing apps. Homework: Choose one of the three styles covered in class to create a final fashion series. Details revealed in class. Week 4: Photographers share their final series of photos, including challenges and triumphs. Focus: Practice helpful critique skills with thoughtful observations and suggestions. Did the student successfully show similar composition, light, contrast and style of their inspiration photographer?

Students will need their charged device available during class and a wifi connection that allows them to upload to our shared photo gallery, Padlet. - Free phone photo editing app, SNAPSEED - For their final photo series, it is helpful to have Google Slides that's available through any Google Chrome account. This is most useful for presenting their final photo series. If this is inconvenient, it's absolutely fine to use Padlet.
