I earned my BA in English from Washington University, and two Masters degrees in the Education field from Brown University and The George Washington University. I have taught language arts to learners in K-12 for over a decade in non-formal settings such as afterschool tutoring and weekend enrichment programs. In Hillsborough County, Florida, I was nominated at the SERVE Tutor of the year in 2012. I have also published poetry, magazine articles, and academic book chapters.

Before each class, learners will be asked to review a description of the type of poem plus 2-3 examples of the poem type that is placed in the classroom page. This task can be completed before class and should not take longer than 30 minutes. The poetry prompt for the week will also be posted before class.
