Do you have a learner taking high school Biology for the 2024-2025 school year? This course is designed to prepare students for their high school Biology classes by helping them build background knowledge about key concepts in life science. 

Here's a little information about how the class is structured:

I utilize Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) for high school life science to guide my instruction. This is an ongoing LIVE 6-week course that meets twice per week for a total of 12 scheduled 40-minute sessions. Since each class session covers a new topic, students can start the class at any time as long as there are spots available. 

During our class sessions, students will use Peardeck. Peardeck is an approved online resource that is free (and easy!) for students use. No email address required. This resource will allow me to embed questions throughout the class for students to respond to digitally, helping to reinforce learning. 

Organizing notes can be challenging for many students, yet note taking is an important skill in high school. I encourage students to take notes during class. To help students stay organized, I provide learners with fill-in-the-blank guided note sheets.

After class, I will also provide review assignments to help reinforce concepts covered during the lesson. Students can return these assignments for teacher feedback. Assignments must be submitted within one week in order for students to receive feedback. I typically provide feedback within about three days.

Monday - Carbon Cycle
Tuesday - Introduction to Ecosystems

Week of July 15th: 
Monday - Biomass & Trophic Levels
Tuesday - Population Ecology

Week of July 22nd:
Monday - Cellular Division & Differentiation
Tuesday - Chromosomal Inheritance
