Let's Celebrate a Book and a Movie this summer!
Join me this summer for some relaxed, fun, and thought-provoking book and movie discussions. It is my hope that these discussions will foster a love of stories and lay the foundations for future literary analysis. Learners will be encouraged to share their ideas, thoughts, and conclusions about various aspects of the book and movie in a relaxed and encouraging...숙제 제공
Be sure to read (or listen to) the entire book before our first book club meeting. Please bring your favorite quote to share with the class. This can be silly or serious. Students can also share a favorite character, moment, or event instead of a quote. I'll make sure to have all options on the table! Be sure to watch the movie before our second meeting!수업 외 주당 4+ 시간

Parents should consider that The Hunger Games is a story about a reality show where 24 teens must kill one another until only one survives. There are several gory moments in addition to teens dying by spears, rocks, arrows, knives, fire, poisoning, and more. One boy's face is horribly mauled by animals. There are stories about the cruelty of life faced by the citizens who live outside of the Capitol. Other than the cruelty and violence, parents should also be aware that one character is an alcoholic who drinks constantly. Our discussion will focus on the themes of compassion, humanity, bravery, and hope. We will look at the characters who maintain their humanity and fight against the oppression of those in power.
