Participants in this multi-day course (Once a week for Six Weeks) will play a simulated game based on the real stock market. Students will learn market basics and compete to grow their portfolios. Students in this class will learn: what stocks are and beginner strategies on how to pick stocks, why companies go public and tips for picking the best stocks to invest in, what causes stock prices to change and what indexes tell us about the market, how to track gains and losses on the value of their portfolio, the difference between mutual funds and stocks, and company dividends.
I have a professional economics license from the state of Kansas to teach social studies and have been teaching for over 13 years. I love learning through games. I feel I am especially qualified to lead this lesson because I currently teach economics and have successfully used this stock market game to teach my students.
