This 10-week series  is designed to help students establish and build initial skills in using ASL--and to have a ton of fun doing it! You don't need to know anything at all about ASL to have a great experience in this class. This series comprises the 10-standalone "Starting ASL Fun" classes 1-10.

In this 10-week series, you'll learn the following vocabulary each week, as well as additional thematic vocabulary so that you can interact in a variety of common real-world situations.  Throughout the semester, we will also learn about Deaf culture and conversational norms. 

Week 1:  
- learn to fingerspell the alphabet, including your name and basic greetings

Week 2:
- learn to sign numbers 1-10 and colors

Week 3: 
- learn family members and numbers 11-20
  
Week 4:
- learn "wh" questions and ages

Week 5:
 - learn to sign different emotions

Week 6: 
 - learn school setting terms and yes/no questions

Week 7:
 -  learn to sign common places and people

Week 8: 
 - learn manners in ASL (please, thank you, excuse me...) 

Week 9:
 - learn technology and vacation terms in ASL 

Week 10: 
 - learn to sign ordinal numbers and grade levels

My classes use lots of different media to keep learning fun, engaging, and effective, including breakout groups, cards, pictures, videos, song, and more. ASL is a language, and language is best learned not by memorization, but by experience, so in my class we'll try to create as many fun experiences with the language as we can so that you learn the language naturally! 

My teaching style is laid back and informal - I love to interact with students, and I've designed the class to provide you with interactive experiences both with me and with your fellow learners in the class.
