In this class, students will learn the following:
--What is narrative art and the historical trajectory of narrative art that led to the development of comics
--How historical events altered comic production and storylines
--How Marvel approached storytelling differently than other companies
--How comics relate to other forms of art and media
--How comics are written and developed, generally

I have a masters degree in art history and have been studying Disney, Pixar, and Marvel for over two years. I teach at the collegiate level course on the art of Disney and Pixar that includes an extensive discussion of Marvel and how it fits into the Disney canon. I would love to share this knowledge with your students and help them to understand why their favorite movies are so important in the art and entertainment industries today!

Students will have discussion questions to respond to in the classroom each week, as well as a research project for each class. Students are invited to participate in a five-week-long project in which they design their own comics and characters.
