The Sport Training and Nutrition class will focus on professional athletes, Olympic athletes, and the way they feed their bodies every day while training for their specific sport. We will discuss why athletes keep a balanced blood sugar, and how they prevent dehydration during intense training. We will discuss the urinary and cardio system briefly and why it is important to keep these organ systems in good condition for exercise. We will discuss studies on certain foods like beet juice and how they were found to change the performance of some athletes within the study. We will also discuss a recent study on using nutrition to help prevent brain injury occurrence in American Football athletes.

This class is in no way medical advice or therapy. This class does not direct students to change their diets; it discusses the diets of professional athletes and the research completed by scientists and the US Olympic Committee. This class will very briefly discuss the definition of sport training and how it is not diet culture, students with eating disorder issues may find the topic sensitive. This class does not support discussions of weight loss or diet culture of any kind. This class is body positive and all inclusive.

No pre-reqs in nutrition are required for this class. This class is a very basic introduction to nutrition and sports training. Nothing in this class is considered medical advice or suggesting dietary changes to students.
수업 자료
Students will need pen and paper to take notes on information they are interested in or find relevant should they play a sport being discussed.
