THIS CLASS REQUIRES A SPECIFIC TEXTBOOK AND WORKBOOK. PLEASE SEE BELOW IN SUPPLIES. This half semester math class is ideal for 9 and 10 year old children, depending on their abilities and previous knowledge. The children will be introduced to a topic during the class session and then have follow-up activities to do during the week. While the class meets twice per week, families should be prepared to spend time daily, practicing math. A variety of multi-sensory activities to support learning math concepts, are suggested for follow up practice. Each week will include several pages of home-time learning, outside of class session time. The class will meet two times per week for 30 minute sessions and will utilize Singapore Math, a world renowned math program. Families are responsible for purchasing the required materials as students will have regular assignments, in addition to active, sensory-immersion activities that are developmentally appropriate for 9 - 10 year old children. A class at this level requires much involvement on the part of the parent. Many parents choose follow along in the classroom on a daily basis, as there are assignments that need to be completed at home.
