Beginner 레벨
In Sightreading Made Simple, students will get a quick introduction to the basics of identifying notes on the treble and bass clefs. We will identify the G-line (Treble Clef) and the F-line (Bass Clef) as well as what Middle C looks like on both the treble and bass clefs. Then, I will teach the basics of a "game" called MusicTalks. Students will look at a note on the screen and give a thumbs up if they are ready to identify it. Students will be able to identify five notes on the treble clef, ascending from middle C (C-D-E-F-G). Students will be able to identify five notes on the bass clef, descending from middle C (C-B-A-G-F). Students will be able to explain their reasoning. Students will practice respectful disagreement based on their reasoning.
I have taught private piano and voice lessons for seventeen years. I have a Bachelor's degree in Music (Performance) and a Master's degree in Education. I have developed the Sightreading Made Simple lessons in conjunction with these lessons and helped to formulate them in an easy to understand way for group learners.
This class will be most beneficial to students who have access to a piano or keyboard to practice the skill they are learning here, but it is not a requirement.
