Students will be learning the 5 short vowel sounds for a, e, i, o, and u. In our time together, we will introduce each short vowel. We will learn a hand signal to help us remember the vowel's name, a chant for each letter to help remember the vowel's sound, practice blending words that contain the vowel sound together as a class and independently, and then use those blended words in a phonics fluency sentence for reading. I have 10 years of teaching experience. My teaching time in Kindergarten and First Grade, 8 years of experience, have shown me fun and interactive strategies to reinforce the learning process of reading. I am hoping that these strategies will be able to reach your child on a new level of understanding during our lesson.
