Reading music can be difficult. And understanding compound time signatures can make it feel impossible sometimes. That’s why we are diving into the “Secret Language of Music” to understand the rules, idiosyncrasies, and general theory of time signatures such as 6/8 and 9/8. We will be doing a lot of clapping and counting, and even playing a few games! Day 1: -Counting time signatures with an 8 on the bottom -Grouping notes Day 2: -Strong and weak beats in compound time -3/4 vs....
Students will gain a fundamental understanding of compound rhythm, and it’s application. They will learn about the rules of writing music in these meters, using a very hands-on method.
I have been a music teacher for over 20 years, both as a private and group teacher. I have taught multiple ages how to read music, and use the skill to further their music learning journey.
